FASS­NIDGE Bowls Club have fin­ished top of the Chiltern & Thames league, having won seven out of eight matches.

The club is play­ing in tour­na­ments on Sun­day, when Brian and Sue Lawes and Brenda Con­nor are in the quar­ter fi­nal of the Chiltern & Thames Mixed Triples, while Sue will also be in ac­tion in the Mid­dle­sex mixed pairs with Alan Hooper.

Fass­nidge are look­ing for new mem­bers of all abil­i­ties. Any­one in­ter­ested can call Hooper on 01895 257 507.

Else­where, Har­ling­ton were de­feated 107-92 in their friendly at Hove & Kingsway last week where M Red­path, J Fisher, J Roland and D Cut­more formed their high­est win­ning part­ner­ship, 30-17.

Har­ling­ton were also in ac­tion in a ban­nerette match against Hayes and District Bowl­ing As­so­ci­a­tion and, de­spite win­ning two of the three rinks, they were de­feated 51-42. The top scor­ing rink was Mau­reen Cot­terell, Pauline Weller and Fred Pickard of Hayes, win­ning 19-13.

Mean­while, there was dis­ap­point­ment for North­woodd in Vet­eran’ss League Di­vi­sion One as Weald­stone made a late charge to pip them to the ti­tle in the fi­nal two games.

At the bot­tom, Lady­gate have saved them­selves from rel­e­ga­tion, while the Ruis­lip club have also won Di­vi­sion One of the Bid­good League.
