SARA AND THE VYNES BUSK INTO FINAL
Teen singer and band into the last 18
AN ICKENHAM singer songwriter is into the final of a London-wide busking competition with her new band.
Sara Williams, 15, and her band The Vynes – Mark Fincham, 17, on bass guitar, Vincent Chapman-Andrews, 15, on guitar, and drummer Jack Reynolds, 16 – are in the last 18 of BigBusk, which pits performers against each other at specially selected busking sites across the capital.
A combination of public and judges’s votes then decided the final line up, which this year is on Sunday.
“It has been a brilliant experience,” said Sara, from The Paddock.
“I’m really excited for the final and I’m really happy that we got this far from 1,000 entrants down to 18.”
Sara and The Vynes – named after Vyners School in Warren Road, Ickenham, which all the bandmates attend – played a number of venues, including the Westfield shopping centre and a pitch outside St Paul’s Cathedral during the competition, run by the Mayor of London’s office.
Aged only 14, Sara won Hillingdon’s Hidden Talent last year, organised by Hillingdon Council, with her song Just Before You Say Goodbye.
Check www.getwestlondon.co.uk on Monday, September 8 for the results and for a video performance of the band’s track, Oblivious.
