SEVEN bags of mail that should have been delivered by TNT Post have been found discarded in green spaces across Eastcote over the past two weeks.

Volunteers belonging to the Friends of Eastcote House Gardens say they discovered the bags during their conservation and gardening sessions in Long Meadow and Forge Green.

Lesley Crowcroft, the chairman of Eastcote Conservation Panel and Friends of Eastcote House Gardens, said the bags were left in a ‘wet, messy condition’.

The Friends group handed the mail to Hillingdon Council after finding them in areas surrounding the gardens in High Road, Eastcote.

In a statement, TNT said: “The individual who committed this crime had been with the company for a short period of time and was dismissed immediately.

“The police are looking at the case and at pressing charges.

“This behaviour is totally unacceptable and does not reflect the dedication and hard work of the vast majority of our employees.

“The mail was collected within two hours of us being notified of the incident and was delivered immediately.

“Mail security is a top priority of the firm with 98.5 per cent being delivered on first attempt.”
