Ruislip to make a point
RUISLIP need a point from their final match of the season today (Wednesday) to avoid relegation from Division One of the Veterans League.
They take on basement side Hendon knowing their opponents need at least four points to send Ruislip down instead.
Ruislip were beaten 55-47 by Century A in their latest match but picked up a precious point to leave them on the verge of safety.
Meanwhile, in Division Three, Ruislip B grabbed a point as they were beaten 63-42 by Century B and finish second from bottom in the table.
Fred Pickard was a double winner at the Court Park finals day on Saturday.
Picklard teamed up with Rod Chamberlain, Phil Grosvenor and Eddie Chilver to defeat Len Dowling, Tom Williams, Anne Haggerty and Rosemary Laming 19-13 in the club night final and beat Sandra Staniland 21-9 in the Jubilee.
Peter James won against Chilver 21-6 to lift the men’s championship while the ladies’ honours went to Ann Greenaway, who overcame Betty Murray 22-2.
The ladies’ two woods went to Shirley Haw who edged out Barbara Kirton 14-13 while the mixed two woods was won by Ken Smith with a 13-6 success against Williams.
Smith could not make it a double though as he lost 22-10 to John Newman in the handicap while Teresa and Barry French were crowned mixed doubles champions following their 23-15 victory over John and Shirley Haw.
Mill enjoyed three wins out of three in their latest friendlies.
They overcame Southall 56-43, while Court Park were beaten 70-52 and finally they were victorious against Pavilion 59-41.
Harlington had a win and a defeat in their latest two friendlies, beating Rosedale 76-62 victory over Rosedale, but losing 51-49 to Gunnersbury.
