Ruis­lip to make a point

RUIS­LIP need a point from their fi­nal match of the sea­son to­day (Wed­nes­day) to avoid rel­e­ga­tion from Di­vi­sion One of the Vet­er­ans League.

They take on base­ment side Hen­don know­ing their op­po­nents need at least four points to send Ruis­lip down in­stead.

Ruis­lip were beaten 55-47 by Cen­tury A in their lat­est match but picked up a pre­cious point to leave them on the verge of safety.

Mean­while, in Di­vi­sion Three, Ruis­lip B grabbed a point as they were beaten 63-42 by Cen­tury B and fin­ish sec­ond from bot­tom in the ta­ble.

Fred Pickard was a dou­ble win­ner at the Court Park fi­nals day on Satur­day.

Pick­lard teamed up with Rod Cham­ber­lain, Phil Grosvenor and Ed­die Chil­ver to de­feat Len Dowling, Tom Wil­liams, Anne Haggerty and Rose­mary Lam­ing 19-13 in the club night fi­nal and beat San­dra Stani­land 21-9 in the Ju­bilee.

Peter James won against Chil­ver 21-6 to lift the men’s cham­pi­onship while the ladies’ hon­ours went to Ann Green­away, who over­came Betty Mur­ray 22-2.

The ladies’ two woods went to Shirley Haw who edged out Bar­bara Kir­ton 14-13 while the mixed two woods was won by Ken Smith with a 13-6 suc­cess against Wil­liams.

Smith could not make it a dou­ble though as he lost 22-10 to John New­man in the hand­i­cap while Teresa and Barry French were crowned mixed dou­bles cham­pi­ons fol­low­ing their 23-15 vic­tory over John and Shirley Haw.

Mill en­joyed three wins out of three in their lat­est friendlies.

They over­came Southall 56-43, while Court Park were beaten 70-52 and fi­nally they were vic­to­ri­ous against Pavil­ion 59-41.

Har­ling­ton had a win and a de­feat in their lat­est two friendlies, beat­ing Rosedale 76-62 vic­tory over Rosedale, but los­ing 51-49 to Gun­ners­bury.
