No change yet over ‘council propaganda’

Harefield Gazette - - NEWS -

HLLINGDON Council is keeping its powder dry in the row over its bimonthly magazine.

The Gazette reported how the Department for Communities and Local Government was pressing the authority to get in line over Hillingdon People and reduce publication to four times a year.

It is part of a longrunning row it has been engaged in with Hillingdon and several other London boroughs.

The government believes such town hall publications have a detrimental effect on local media and are little more than council propaganda.

Hillingdon was given until Friday, August 29 to reply to the department and declare what it intended to do.

A council spokesman told the Gazette it had responded to the government, but declined to comment on what the council’s response was.
