Harefield Gazette - - ADULT SERVICES 18+ -

MARTINA Paladini Jennings made it a week to remember after clinching both the U16s and U18s Middlesex Junior County Championships.

The 14-year-old from Uxbridge did not drop a set during the five days of play at Paddington Sports Centre.

Ranked in the top five at both age levels at county level, Paladini Jennings shook off the competition, including both number two rankings – Mizuki Sakurai and Jennifer Gogova – in the respective semi-finals.

But her time to shine came at the end of the week when she had to play both finals in the space of three hours.

The teenager first beat U18s number one player Nanami Yamaguchi 6-3 6-3, then the U16s number four Mandi Furaji 6-1 6-2 in just 20 minutes.

Paladini Jennings featured in the Road to Wimbledon event last month and reached the semi-final of her Aegon British Women’s tour in Paddington on Friday.

She is expecting to play in some Junior International Tennis Federation tournaments in Europe to build her experience and is looking for sponsors to help her do so.

Anyone interested can email her mother, Angelica, at paladini.jennings@gmail.com.
