Dahlias were just one ingredient to popular autumn flower show

Harefield Gazette - - NEWS -

DAZZLING dahlias were back in fashion at an annual autumn flower show.

It wasn’t just the flowers stealing the limelight at the Ickenham and Swakeleys Horticultural Society autumn show.

The Village Hall in Swakeleys Road was packed with colourful displays of plants and flowers, but according to the society’s vice-chair and honorable show secretary Patt Trigg, the most popular class was the men’s cookery challenge.

“Dahlias showed a great resurgence in fashion and our vegetable growers also contributed many fine exhibits,” Mrs Trigg said.

Adult and junior photographic classes were packed with entries and the juniors didn’t let the side down in their horticultural section either – with creatures made from fruit and vegetables popular among the judges.
