Walk to promote peace
THE MAYOR of Hillingdon and the police borough commander will lead local faith groups in a peace walk in Uxbridge town centre.
The walk, organised by Hillingdon Council, the police and Hillingdon Inter Faith Network, is held annually and marks a commitment to a safe and peaceful borough.
The mayor, Councillor Catherine Dann, said: “We recognise how important it is for our whole community to work together and we welcome events like this walk, which brings together people from different faiths and backgrounds with the common goal of peace.

The mayor will be joined in leading the walk – which starts at 1.30pm on Sunday, September 21, by Hillingdon borough commander, Detective Chief Superintendent Nick Downing.
It begins at Uxbridge Police Station, in Warwick Place, off Harefield Road, and heads towards the intu shopping centre.
Speeches will be made and there will be performances by the Metropolitan Police Service’s Emerald Society Pipes and Drums band, Uxbridge dance group Futunity and children from local schools.
