Club makes history
NORTHWOOD Golf Club’s first team (pictured) created history as they clinched the Middlesex President’s Foursomes Cup last week.
The club had never won this competition before and they edged out Sudbury 2-1 at Mill Hill Golf Club to lift the trophy for the first time.
Justin Phelps and Robbie Johnson got the champions off to a great start winning 5 and 3 in the first match but their momentum was halted as Gary Nash and Ian Roach suffered a defeat in the second game setting up a tense finish in the deciding pair.
Nick Lines and Sean Maxwell didn’t get off to a promising start but came back from one down with two to play to win the last two holes and secure a one hole victory.
This was Northwood second major win in the last few weeks after the Rabbits team secured the Stanley West Memorial Trophy.
