England player’s talk at school awards
AN ENGLAND women’s rugby player was guest of honour at a school awards ceremony.
Parents and staff celebrated the impressive achievements of students at Northwood School in Potter Street at its annual awards evening on September 17 where they heard from rugby player Leanne Riley, who was part of the successful England Sevens team that lifting the IRB Challenge Cup Sevens Crown in Hong Kong in 2012.
She is aiming to play Rugby Sevens in the sport’s Olympic debut at the Rio 2016 Games.
Head teacher Mark Anderson said: “I am delighted that Leanne Riley agreed to be our Guest of Honour.
“She gave an inspiring talk to the audience which encouraged our students to aim high and work hard. This has been an absolutely wonderful evening.
“We are blessed with truly fantastic students at Northwood and the award recipients are at the pinnacle of this. They have done tremendously well.”
