Picking up votes in political vacuum

Harefield Gazette - - OPINION - JEREMY

AS A former Conservative and Harrow councillor, having listened to Boris Johnson’s conference speech, in which he suggested that UKIP supporters have sex with vacuum cleaners, the London mayor and 2015 Tory candidate for Uxbridge and South Ruislip has effectively insulted and alienated a whole swathe of disillusioned Conservative-leaning voters.

Taken together with his support for HS2, that will cut a swathe through the local environs – disruptions lasting for years, with properties blighted along its entire route – the result will be a significant number of votes being hoovered up by UKIP.
