Pupils drone on about an­niver­sary

CHIL­DREN at St He­len’s Col­lege will not mind some­one dron­ing on at them on Fri­day when they will take to the play­ground for a com­mem­o­ra­tive pho­to­graph taken by a drone fly­ing over­head.

The novel snap­shot is part of 90th an­niver­sary cel­e­bra­tions at the school in Park­way, Hilling­don. The 350 pupils will form a gi­ant nu­meral ‘90’.

Other events planned for the day in­clude a hat pa­rade for the three to six-year-olds with a St He­len’s theme.

The new Evans Hall din­ing room will be of­fi­cially opened by the for­mer head­mistress from whom it gets its name, Joan Evans, there will be po­etry com­pe­ti­tion with read­ings by the seven to 11-year-olds, and for­mer pupils and staff, guests and the school com­mu­nity will gather in a gi­ant mar­quee in the grounds for a cream tea and cham­pagne re­cep­tion.
