HILLINGDON Slipstreamers have more than one reason to celebrate after multiple achievements around the country.

Youngster Sam Henning brilliantly prevailed ahead of a 180-strong field to claim victory in the final of the GHS School Time Trials to win the 10-mile event.

Henning, who had previously been a cross country runner before bad injuries forced him to stop training, joined Slipstreamers earlier this year and only started cycling competitively three months ago.

Elsewhere, three Slipstreamers were part of the central team that drastically improved on last year’s showing by claiming silver medals in the Inter-Regional Road Championships in Ilford, Essex.

Harrow’s Harriet Mellor and Harefield’s Carl Jolly were selected alongside Charles Page to represent the team over three days of hard racing.

Jolly and Page finished in 25th and 28th place respectively in the men’s event while Mellor secured a 13th place finish in the female competition to help their team to second spot overall.

The club, based in Hayes, prides itself in developing youth cyclists of ages 16 and under and has gone from strength to strength since its founding in 1998.
