Giv­ing bor­ough pride

HILLING­DON res­i­dents will be aim­ing to make their bor­ough proud at the 2014 Bet­ter Club Games on Fri­day.

The event, aimed at over 55 year olds, will see more than 500 par­tic­i­pants from Hilling­don and 16 other London bor­oughs com­pete in a range of sports such as bad­minton, darts, short ten­nis and timed cy­cle.

Those events will take place in the Cop­per Box Arena, which hosted the re­cent In­vic­tus Games, while the timed swim will be staged at the iconic London Aquat­ics Cen­tre.

For­mer Olympic javelin cham­pion Tessa Sanderson, ta­ble ten­nis player Dar­ius Knight and 400m run­ner Daniel Awde will help host the awards pre­sen­ta­tion.

The event, held be­tween 10am and 4pm, is open to the pub­lic and any­one in­ter­ested in at­tend­ing as a spec­ta­tor should email si­mon. hem­mings@gll.org.
