Infants donate collected produce for food bank
AN INFANTS’ School held a special assembly to mark Harvest Time and then donated all the food it had collected from pupils and their families to Hillingdon Foodbank.
The Rev Andrew Sheard from the parishes of St Andrew’s and St Margaret’s was invited to share the assembly which was opened by headteacher, Mrs Bringan with Miss Bishop and Miss Purohit leading the children in singing.
A representative from each class then got to make a delivery to the harvest table.
Rev Andrew got the audience thinking about healthy eating and the benefits of ‘five-a-day’ and then posed some questions to the children such as ‘what is a Granny Smith?’ What fruits grow in sunny Spain? And one for the grown ups – is rhubarb a fruit or a vegetable?
Mr Sheard also prepared some food models for the children to hang on the ‘Harvest Tree of Thanks’.
The contributions were donated to Hillingdon Foodbank for distribution to families in need.
