They’re off at the human powered vehicle races

Harefield Gazette - - NEWS -

RECUMBENT but powerful, the riders of the British Human Powered Vehicle Club took to Hillingdon Cycle Track.

Man, woman and machine were in perfect harmony for a series of races at Minet Park, off Springfield Road, in Hayes on Sunday.

Sporting exotic names such as Carrera Virtuoso, Beano, Rattysnake and Raptobike, the ingenious – some might say wacky – machines were put through their not inconsiderable paces.

“Unlike some organisations we don’t have a problem with things being nonstandard, we welcome them with open arms – as different as possible,” said the club’s website.

“If you want to see beyond the confines of ‘normal’ the BHPC is the place to be.”
