Clam­our­ing to per­form Su­per­star

COM­MU­NITY the­atre group Play­ers 2 is cel­e­brat­ing its 35th an­niver­sary with a per­for­mance of Je­sus Christ Su­per­star.

Am­a­teur groups have been al­lowed to per­form An­drew Lloyd Web­ber’s and Tim Rice’s time­less mu­si­cal for years, but in London it has been heav­ily re­stricted. Fi­nally, it is avail­able to groups ev­ery­where and Play­ers 2 has jumped at the chance to stage its own ver­sion of the clas­sic rock opera.

It fol­lows the last seven days of the Mes­siah’s life, bring­ing to­gether rock songs, wit and emo­tion, and fea­tur­ing such hits as I Don’t Know How To Love Him and Su­per­star.
