Young talk in Commons
THE borough’s Youth Parliament members made their voices heard at the House of Commons.
Courtney Thompson, Serife Gunal and Katie Turner joined 300 UK Youth Parliament members aged between 11 and 19 from across the country to debate five topics, treading in the footsteps of elected MPs. Miss Turner even made a short speech about work experience and careers advice for young people.
The debates were chaired by Speaker of the House of Commons, John Bercow, and broadcast on BBC Parliament throughout the day on Friday, November 14.
The UK Youth Parliament decided on its two priority campaigns for 2015/16, calling for everyone to be paid at least the living wage and for improved mental health services.
