Young talk in Com­mons

THE bor­ough’s Youth Par­lia­ment mem­bers made their voices heard at the House of Com­mons.

Court­ney Thomp­son, Ser­ife Gu­nal and Katie Turner joined 300 UK Youth Par­lia­ment mem­bers aged be­tween 11 and 19 from across the coun­try to de­bate five top­ics, tread­ing in the foot­steps of elected MPs. Miss Turner even made a short speech about work ex­pe­ri­ence and ca­reers ad­vice for young peo­ple.

The de­bates were chaired by Speaker of the House of Com­mons, John Ber­cow, and broad­cast on BBC Par­lia­ment through­out the day on Fri­day, Novem­ber 14.

The UK Youth Par­lia­ment de­cided on its two pri­or­ity cam­paigns for 2015/16, call­ing for ev­ery­one to be paid at least the liv­ing wage and for im­proved men­tal health ser­vices.
