Who are the Heathrow majority?
ROB Gray of the Back Heathrow campaign claims in his letter that 50,000 local residents living around Heathrow are in favour of the expansion of Heathrow (‘ Silent majority to get their say at last’, Letters, Wednesday, November 19).
He also claims that there is a clear majority for expansion in nine out of 10 parliamentary constituencies closes to the airport.
It is difficult to see how he arrived at these figures as they are completely at odds with a referendum held by Hillingdon Council which showed that 53,235 residents (66 per cent) of those who voted were against expansion of the airport, while only 27,377 (34 per cent) were in favour.
