Kinder’s sur­prise goal not enough for Ux­ies

LISA Kinder put in a su­perb per­for­mance but was un­able to pre­vent Old Ux­o­ni­ans Ladies slip­ping to a derby de­feat to Old Mer­chant Tay­lors’ Duchesses.

Kinder was the only scorer for the be­low-par Ux­ies as they were beaten 5-1. Old Ux­o­ni­ans take on Ash­ford at home on Satur­day.

It was a good week­end for Eastcote’s men de­spite the team’s game in MBBO Di­vi­sion One with Staines seconds be­ing post­poned be­cause of a frozen pitch.

The league’s top-two both dropped points to leave the Boars just one win away from the top.

In the same di­vi­sion, Old Mer­chant Tay­lors’ went down 2-0 to Ox­ford seconds and they drop to 10th ahead of host­ing Ox­ford Hawks seconds at the week­end.

Eastcote thirds main­tained top spot in MBBO Di­vi­sion Three with a 2-0 win at Wind­sor thanks to a Jimmy Thomas brace.

The fourths also are top of their league and had Jat Chana to thank for a late equaliser against fel­low pro­mo­tion con­tenders Read­ing Univer­sity in a 3-3 draw but the fifths lost 5-1 at Wy­combe.

All three Eastcote ladies team in ac­tion were caught in the cold, with no-one pick­ing up points.

The seconds lost out 2-1 to West Hamp­stead, Jackie Ri­p­ley with the lone goal, while the thirds were beaten 4-1 by Hamp­stead & West­min­ster fifths, Ni­cola Mans­bridge with the Eastcote re­ply.

Eastcote’s fifths faced Ash­ford thirds with ju­nior Phillippa Jones claim­ing the sole goal in a 3-1 re­verse.
