Free Christ­mas Day meal for lonely

THERE is no rea­son to be lonely on Christ­mas Day, thanks to a slap up com­mu­nity lunch be­ing served for its 24th year.

The free meal of turkey and all the trim­mings, or veg­e­tar­ian op­tion, is or­gan­ised by for­mer coun­cil­lor David Rout­ledge, ably as­sisted by an army of vol­un­teers, and is in­tended for any­one who would oth­er­wise be spend­ing the day alone.

Guests can sign up to be col­lected by car or make their own way to Christ Church in Red­ford Way, Uxbridge, but in ei­ther case must call Mr Rout­ledge on 01895 272 281 to reg­is­ter.

The popular event starts at noon, then after lunch there is carol singing and bingo, then tea, bis­cuits and Christ­mas cake be­fore the fin­ish at 5pm.
