Boys earn praise at care home

Harefield Gazette - - NEWS -

PUPILS have been giving back to their local community by visiting care home residents and holding charity fundraisers.

The AbbotsFriends group was formed last year by nine friends at Abbotsfield School in Uxbridge who initially met once a week.

Now the youngsters are involved in a range of activities, from mentoring year seven boys to participating in their school council. They regularly visit the Sweetcroft Residential Care Home in Uxbridge to spend time with the residents, participate in activities and help maintain the garden.

Sam Alison, manager of the care home in Sweetcroft Lane, said: “All residents and staff at Sweetcroft Residential Care Home have thoroughly enjoyed the company of the Abbotsfield boys. They have interacted very well with the residents with a variety of activities, one being when they made spiders for Halloween.”

Kerry O’Malley, cover supervisor at the school in Clifton Gardens, said: “The staff at Abbotsfield are very proud of the AbbotsFriends pupils.”
