Make a Grand grotto entrance
Children can visit Santa via narrowboat
CHILDREN were excited to find a different way to visit Santa this year – by narrowboat along the Grand Union Canal.
Youngsters made the most of Santa Canal Trips, organised and run by Hillingdon Narrowboats Association (HNA).
The HNA run the trips every Saturday and Sunday in the run-up to Christmas.
Starting at 11am, boats leave every half hour from the Coy Carp, in Coppermill Lane, Harefield, travel down the canal to the HNA boathouse in Summerhouse Lane, Harefield, where youngsters can hop off and meet Santa in his grotto.
Visitors then board the boat once more and travel back to the pub. The round-trip lasts one hour and 15 minutes, with the last boat leaving at 5pm.
Families who join in the ride are given a hot or cold drink and a mince pie to get them in the festive mood.
And the lucky children who get to meet Father Christmas can also take home a present and a framed photo with the big guy.
Visit the website at www.hna.org.uk to book your spot.
