Enjoy new year’s parade

Harefield Gazette - - NEWS -

PERFORMERS aged between eight and 50 will represent Hillingdon in London’s New Year’s Day Parade tomorrow (Thursday, January 1).

More than 40 members of dance and performing arts agency JAM2000, in Pembroke Road, Ruislip, have choreographed a performance, created costumes and built props for the event.

They are hoping to be named the best council parade entry, after Hillingdon took second place last year, winning £6,000.

Along the route, the performers will be collecting donations for the Michael Sobell Hospice in Northwood, which is the chosen charity of Hillingdon mayor, Councillor Catherine Dann.

Mrs Dann said the

The Uxbridge Gazette Series performers had created a ‘glamorous, sequin-studded spectacular’ that ‘truly represents the hustle and bustle of the borough’.

She added: “I would encourage residents to come along and enjoy the atmosphere of London on New Year’s Day, support this fantastic charitable cause as well as keeping an eye out for our parade float, which we hope will be crowned the best in show.”

If you would like to go along and support Hillingdon’s entry, the parade will start at noon outside the Ritz Hotel in Piccadilly and run on to Piccadilly Circus, down Lower Regent Street to Pall Mall, Cockspur Street, Trafalgar Square and Whitehall, ending in Parliament Square.
