Man ver­bally abused on Tube

Search for woman in ho­mo­pho­bic at­tack

WOMAN is wanted by po­lice after launch­ing a ho­mo­pho­bic at­tack on a man trav­el­ling on the tube in North­wood.

Bri­tish Trans­port Po­lice (BTP) of­fi­cers are call­ing on the pub­lic for help to iden­tify a woman from CCTV images taken at North­wood sta­tion, off Green Lane.

A 23-year-old man was sub­jected to a ver­bal tirade by the woman on Fri­day, Novem­ber 14.

PC Natalie Fairhurst said: “The vic­tim was trav­el­ling on the Met­ro­pol­i­tan line be­tween Baker Street and North­wood London Un­der­ground sta­tions.

“As the train ap­proached North­wood, a woman op­po­site the man be­gan shout­ing foul­mouthed ho­mo­pho­bic abuse at him.

A“She fol­lowed the vic­tim off the train, ha­rangu­ing him all the way to the sta­tion exit.”

Of­fi­cers have ex­am­ined CCTV from the sta­tion and iden­ti­fied a woman

TJG1ST who they think has im­por­tant in­for­ma­tion about the in­ci­dent.

PC Fairhurst said: “This abuse was en­tirely un­pro­voked and com­pletely un­ac­cept­able.

“BTP is com­mit­ted to en­sur­ing the rail net­work re­mains a safe en­vi­ron­ment where all pas­sen­gers and staff are treated with re­spect.

“We treat hate crime very se­ri­ously and will do ev­ery­thing in our power to find the per­son re­spon­si­ble.

“I think the woman in the im­age we are is­su­ing to­day can help with our in­ves­ti­ga­tion.”
