Beware of bogus visits

Harefield Gazette - - NEWS -

BOGUS tradesmen have been knocking on doors in the borough.

Hillingdon Council’s trading standards team says it has received a number of reports recently involving callers who either claimed to be offering home improvement work or pretended to represent an organisation.

Councillor Jonathan Bianco, the council’s cabinet member for finance, properties and business services, said: “These rogue callers are preying on vulnerable people, such as the elderly, who live alone.

“I would urge residents to check identification of anyone unknown calling at your house and, even if it looks legitimate, do not be afraid to contact the organisation to verify they are who they say.”
