Police station front counters run by volunteers

Harefield Gazette - - NEWS -

VOLUNTEERS have been helping police in Ruislip and Northwood to keep their front offices open for longer.

The front counter at Ruislip Police Station, in The Oaks, is open Wednesday to Thursday from 7pm to 8pm, and on Saturdays from 2pm to 3pm.

Neighbours have been giving up half a day once or twice a week to run the counter from 10am to 5pm Monday to Friday, and from 10am to 1pm on Saturdays.

They also run the front counter at Northwood Police Station, in Murray Road, between 11am and 1pm from Monday to Wednesday.

Inspector Rob Bryan, of Hillingdon Police, said: “Our police opening hours are set.

“The volunteers offer access to a front counter above and beyond those hours, which is a great service for local people in Ruislip and Northwood.

“I understand the hours are limited, and on occasions the volunteers are unable to fill a particular shift.

“Nevertheless I want to acknowledge the brilliant job they do opening these front counters for additional hours.”
