Young writer re­leases her new novel

FOR­MER Ruis­lip school pupil who is be­ing touted as the ‘next JK Rowl­ing’ is vis­it­ing Uxbridge to talk about her new novel.

Sa­man­tha Shan­non will be at Water­stones in the intu Uxbridge shop­ping, on Fe­bru­ary 17 at 6.30pm, to pro­mote her sec­ond book, called The Mime Or­der.

It is a se­quel to her ac­claimed de­but The Bone Sea­son, which reached num­ber seven on the New York Times best­sellers list and nine on the Sun­day Times list.

It led to favourable com­par­isons with the Harry Pot­ter au­thor, JK Rowl­ing, and the film rights to her first novel have been picked up by Andy Serkis’ Imag­i­nar­ium

Ms Shan­non, 23, was born in Ham­mer­smith and raised and ed­u­cated in Ruis­lip, where she at­tended Bishop Ram­sey School.

Her lat­est book is the sec­ond in a seven-part se­ries which is set in a dy s t o p i a n fu­ture.

Last year she re­turned to her old school in Hume Way to meet year seven and eight pupils.

M s Shan­non will visit with fel­low au­thor MR Carey, who penned The Girl With All The Gifts, to talk about The Mime Or­der, which is sched­uled for re­lease later this month.
