Author’s book in the spotlight
Young writer releases her new novel
FORMER Ruislip school pupil who is being touted as the ‘next JK Rowling’ is visiting Uxbridge to talk about her new novel.
Samantha Shannon will be at Waterstones in the intu Uxbridge shopping, on February 17 at 6.30pm, to promote her second book, called The Mime Order.
It is a sequel to her acclaimed debut The Bone Season, which reached number seven on the New York Times bestsellers list and nine on the Sunday Times list.
It led to favourable comparisons with the Harry Potter author, JK Rowling, and the film rights to her first novel have been picked up by Andy Serkis’ Imaginarium

Ms Shannon, 23, was born in Hammersmith and raised and educated in Ruislip, where she attended Bishop Ramsey School.
Her latest book is the second in a seven-part series which is set in a dy s t o p i a n future.
Last year she returned to her old school in Hume Way to meet year seven and eight pupils.
M s Shannon will visit with fellow author MR Carey, who penned The Girl With All The Gifts, to talk about The Mime Order, which is scheduled for release later this month.
