A good morning for Dogs Trust
TV presenter visits Dogs Trust kennels
THIS Morning presenter Eamonn Holmes stopped by the Dogs Trust in Harefield to support its work in rehoming unwanted dogs, and to hand over a bumper sized cheque.
A DOGS’ charity in Harefield received a £5,000 donation and a visit from morning TV favourite Eamonn Holmes.
The Sunrise and This Morning presenter visited the Dogs Trust Harefield kennels and offices last Tuesday to see the good work the charity does and help hand over the bumper cheque.
The money comes from Animal Friends Insurance and is to support the Love Rehoming campaign – a programme which helps abandoned animals find new homes and loving owners.
The Dogs Trust Harefield in Harvil Road is a rehoming centre currently caring for 150 dogs which helps find new homes for hundreds of stray and abandoned animals each year.
Mr Holmes, who is married to his This Morning co-presenter Ruth Langsford, has a close affinity to the Dogs Trust after using the charity to get his own special four-legged friend. He said: “Maggie our dog who I rehomed from the Dogs Trust has completely changed my life. I’m passionate about the importance of rehoming pets as a result
“That’s why campaigns like Love Rehoming are so vital and important. I just can’t get over the love that Maggie gives to Ruth and I, I would like to urge everyone that they should get a dog from a rehoming centre like the Dogs Trust.”
On hand to give over the cheque was Animal Friends Insurance founder and MD Elaine Fairfax. She said: “I am very proud to support the Love Rehoming campaign and Dogs Trust and to continue supporting animal welfare.
“I truly believe that animal lives are precious, and that it is the duty of pet owners to do what they can, not just for their own pets, but for animals in need all over the world, which is why I support the efforts of animal rescue centres and the Love Rehoming campaign.”
Dogs Trust Harefield is one of 20 rehoming centres located around the UK that cares for dogs of all shapes and sizes.
Richard Moore, Dogs Trust Harefield rehoming centre manager said: “We were delighted to welcome Elaine and Eamonn to Dogs Trust Harefield and are incredibly grateful for the generous donation.”
