Cel­e­brat­ing a raft of Oxbridge of­fers

A SCHOOL in Hilling­don is cel­e­brat­ing af­ter nine pupils re­ceived ‘Oxbridge’ of­fers.

The stu­dents from St He­len’s School in North­wood have had of­fers to study at Ox­ford or Cam­bridge uni­ver­si­ties in Septem­ber.

It means 14 per cent of the Year 13 stu­dents at the in­de­pen­dent girls’ school in East­bury Road are set to en­ter the fa­mous uni­ver­si­ties af­ter writ­ing suc­cess­ful ap­pli­ca­tions and pass­ing the no­to­ri­ously tough in­ter­view process.

All but one of the nine have been given con­di­tional of­fers which mean they must pass their A-level ex­ams at the re­quired grades to make good the Oxbridge of­fers. Four stu­dents at St He­len’s have re­ceived of­fers from Cam­bridge, to study English, Medicine and Nat­u­ral Sciences at St John’s, Em­manuel, Pem­broke and Cor­pus Christi Col­leges.

Five stu­dents have re­ceived of­fers from Ox­ford, to study Law, Clas­si­cal Ar­chae­ol­ogy and An­cient His­tory, Mu­sic, Bi­o­log­i­cal Sciences and Hu­man Sciences at Queen’s, Somerville, St Catherine’s and Ke­ble Col­leges.
