Borough goes for glory again

Harefield Gazette - - NEWS -

HILLINGDON will be the only council to represent the capital in this year’s Britain in Bloom competition.

It follows the borough’s success last year in London in Bloom, when it won the prestigious Gold status and was named overall winner in the Large City category.

The borough was also awarded the Silver-Gilt award in the 2014 competition. It will again enter the Large City category. Councillor Jonathan Bianco, head of finance, property and business services at the council, said: “We have more Green Flag awards than any other UK local authority and it is good to see that our efforts have been noted and we are once again a finalist in this competition.

“Our staff, as well as our residents and the many volunteer groups, put a lot of effort into looking after this borough’s green spaces, and it’s thanks to them we have so many wonderful open spaces to enjoy.”

Judging will take place in the summer.
