Blaze at salvage yard
A CARAVAN, motorhome and five cars were destroyed when a fire swept through a salvage yard in West Drayton.
Two people inside the static caravan in Station Road managed to escape unharmed after the blaze started just before 5am on Sunday.
Fire crews found and cooled four gas cylinders, and moved another eight cylinders to a safe position. Four fire engines and around 21 firefighters from stations in Hayes, Heathrow and Hillingdon attended the scene, and brought the flames under control by 6.30am.
The fire started in a car park at the back of The Blues Bar, in Station Road. Landlord Johann Johnson said: “The pub is fine, two dry storage units at the rear of the pub were damaged. “We don’t know any more at the moment – I’m waiting for the fire brigade and police to get back to me.”
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
