HOAC stars finish top at home event

Harefield Gazette - - SPORT -

FOUR Hillingdon Outdoor Activities Centre (HOAC) representatives finished champions as the club hosted their first London Youth Traveller Event, writes Dimitri Kondonis.

Curtis McKay, Emanuele Nardini and Jack Hurst (together) and Ben Lythgoe all earned the top prize as the hosts triumphed in the majority of events. Winning the Topper, RS Feva and RS Tera competitions respectively, HOAC did remarkably well as a team.

The event was organised by parents to allow participants from London-based clubs and Royal Yachting Association centres to take part in class racing in a relaxed and friendly environment in different locations across the capital.

And more than 30 sailors took to the water in Lasers, Toppers, Fevas and Teras competing four races, with the Laser contest particularly enthralling as positions interchanged regularly until the end.

HOAC representatives not only finished first in three of the events, but David Lim and James Smaggasgale were runners-up in the Laser and Topper events, with Jack Hughes coming third in the RS Feva to wrap up a victorious day for the club.
