Uxbridge off to a flier as new sea­son starts

THE open­ing week­end of cricket saw Uxbridge get off to a fly­ing start as they recorded victory in their Mid­dle­sex Di­vi­sion Two fix­ture, writes Sean Davies.

Af­ter bowl­ing Har­row all out for 129, the away side raced to 132-4 off just 28.2 overs with Ron­ald Eti­enne top scor­ing with 63 not out.

In the same di­vi­sion, East­cote drew their open­ing fix­ture at home to Bren­tham, Chris James top scor­ing with 87 for the home side.

Hayes sit top of the Morton Thames Val­ley Cricket League Di­vi­sion 2B af­ter beat­ing Chiswick & Whit­ton.

A sen­si­ble bat­ting per­for­mance from Old Mer­chant Tay­lors saw them record victory in the Morton Thames Val­ley Cricket League Di­vi­sion 2A.

The side’s bowl­ing line up did the hard work, get­ting Fin­champ­stead Two all out for 142, be­fore the bats­men eased to 143 from 37 overs.

North­wood beat Holtwhite Trinibis by 25 runs as they set a tar­get of 219 from their 50 overs.

Neil Sargeant top scored for North­wood with 68 runs.

Both North­wood Town and Hare­field lost their open­ing fix­tures, los­ing to Steve­nage II by 14 runs and Slough by 19 runs re­spec­tively.

Mean­while, Katharine Bowk­ers ex­cel­lent fig­ures of 5-35 were not enough to see an in­jury-hit Ick­en­ham ladies to victory as they lost by 120 runs at Shep­per­ton.

Bowker’s younger sis­ter Rachael took her first se­nior wicket and an ex­cel­lent high catch to give her sis­ter her first fifer.
