Cheeky, chunky kit in the body of a cat

Harefield Gazette - - NEWS -

JOHN is a proper chunky monkey. Just look at those cheeks!

Looking at him now you wouldn’t believe the transformation. When he was rescued on February 16, he had been surviving as a stray on the streets of north west London and was found scavenging for food.

“When John arrived, he was incredibly hungry,” says animal welfare administrator Cheryl O’Keeffe. “He licked his bowl completely clean and was crying for more!

“He had been so frightened when we picked him up, but he soon realised he was in good hands and was purring all around my legs.”

His friendly demeanour means he was probably once a loved pet, but whether he was abandoned or just got lost we sadly don’t know, as he wasn’t microchipped. If you are a pet owner, please make sure your pet is microchipped – if they ever get lost it’s the only way to be sure they’ll be returned to you, if found.

“John is an incredibly friendly cat, he loves people and lots of attention, he is extremely playful though he can be a little boisterous. Essentially he is a little kitten in a great big cat’s body”, says Cheryl.

“I don’t think he realises he’s a big boy now, so he can get a bit carried away with his cat games every now and again, so he needs a home, as the only cat, with adult owners or teenage children who are confident around cats.”

John is a lovely boy with tons of personality, but being one of the many black cats in our care, he sadly gets overlooked, as people seem to prefer other colours. It’s especially heartbreaking when the one black cat from a litter of kittens is the one left behind.

If you would like to adopt a black cat or kitten we have all ages and temperaments who are looking for their forever homes.
