No hospital car park extension
HILLINGDON Hospital has scrapped plans for a ‘muchneeded’ car park extension, due to cost.
The Hospital’s NHS Foundation Trust secured planning permission for a single deck car park on its grounds for five years that would have added 89 spaces on to the existing 390.
But the Trust has announced that it is not an economically viable to proceed with the project in its present form.
A spokesman said: “Following the detailed design to meet the planning requirements and a competitive tender process, the costs to build the car park deck are now significantly greater than envisaged.
“The Trust recognises that parking capacity does not adequately meet the levels of demand and will continue to consider options to improve parking capacity at the Hillingdon Hospital site, as a matter of urgency.”
It has not disclosed the costs or what alternative options may be.
The current shortage means cars often queue on Pield Heath Road for entry at peak times.
