MICHELIN MAN: Chef gives a Big Treat to shoppers
Celebrity chefs entertain visitors to town centre
CELEBRITY chefs gave Uxbridge shoppers a big treat showcasing their culinary skills.
Michelin star-winning chef Jean-Christophe Novelli and the UK’s youngest head chef Luke Thomas dished up mouth-watering morsels as part of the Big Treat weekend.
Mr Thomas, who appeared at intu shopping centre at the end of May, thinks cooking is accessible to everyone and can be enjoyed by people from all walks of life.
He said: “My food is simple, comforting, stripped back, accessible and there’s nothing in there that scares anybody.”
Jean-Christophe Novelli enjoyed meeting members of the public while showing off his skills in The Piazza.
He served up some of his recipes including chicken chocolate, white bean and vanilla veloute soup and mushroom gateau.
Mr Novelli, celebrating 40 years in the industry this year, recommends cutting down on saturated fat and sugar in cooking.
He said: “You can buy your ingredients from anywhere, so long as they’re fresh.”
Craig Higgins, marketing manager at intu Uxbridge, said “We hope all visitors were able to get involved, whether it was by seeing a movie for free, grabbing some tasty treats and meeting our celebrity chefs or simply enjoying themselves.”
