MICHE­LIN MAN: Chef gives a Big Treat to shop­pers

Celebrity chefs en­ter­tain visi­tors to town cen­tre

CELEBRITY chefs gave Uxbridge shop­pers a big treat show­cas­ing their culi­nary skills.

Miche­lin star-win­ning chef Jean-Christophe Novelli and the UK’s youngest head chef Luke Thomas dished up mouth-wa­ter­ing morsels as part of the Big Treat week­end.

Mr Thomas, who ap­peared at intu shop­ping cen­tre at the end of May, thinks cook­ing is ac­ces­si­ble to ev­ery­one and can be en­joyed by peo­ple from all walks of life.

He said: “My food is sim­ple, com­fort­ing, stripped back, ac­ces­si­ble and there’s noth­ing in there that scares any­body.”

Jean-Christophe Novelli en­joyed meet­ing mem­bers of the public while show­ing off his skills in The Pi­azza.

He served up some of his recipes in­clud­ing chicken cho­co­late, white bean and vanilla veloute soup and mush­room gateau.

Mr Novelli, cel­e­brat­ing 40 years in the in­dus­try this year, rec­om­mends cut­ting down on sat­u­rated fat and sugar in cook­ing.

He said: “You can buy your in­gre­di­ents from any­where, so long as they’re fresh.”

Craig Higgins, mar­ket­ing man­ager at intu Uxbridge, said “We hope all visi­tors were able to get in­volved, whether it was by see­ing a movie for free, grab­bing some tasty treats and meet­ing our celebrity chefs or sim­ply en­joy­ing them­selves.”
