Join Hayes to celebrate its history and cul­ture

HAYES will celebrate this Satur­day at a car­ni­val mark­ing it’s vi­brant history and di­verse com­mu­nity.

The Hayes Car­ni­val pa­rade starts in Pump Lane at 12.30pm, headed by the Toque Tam­bor Samba Band, and will make its way to Barra Hall Park where the free events be­gin at 1.30pm.

There will be per­for­mances from Jack Wal­ton from the X Fac­tor, Hilling­don’s Hid­den Tal­ent com­pe­ti­tion Ethan Beer, and 60s soul trio The Estrel­las as well as var­i­ous schools.

Other en­ter­tain­ments in­clude Gozart and his gi­ant pup­pet, the Save the Lyma Birds pup­pet act, stilt walk­ers, and Monty Ham­mond’s Fun Fair as well as com­mu­nity stalls.

Cllr Dou­glas Mills, cab­i­net mem­ber for com­mu­nity, said: “Last year’s car­ni­val was a great suc­cess, with thou­sands of peo­ple flock­ing to Barra Hall Park to en­joy the free en­ter­tain­ment.

“This year’s event cel­e­brates the di­verse cul­tures and com­mu­ni­ties of Hayes and we hope that Hilling­don res­i­dents and visi­tors make a day of it by go­ing down to the town to en­joy the fan­tas­tic at­mos­phere.”
