MP joins friends for a cuppa
HILLINGDON Hospital’s league of friends had an extra pair of hands in serving tea and coffee to patients and staff.
They were joined by Hayes & Harlington MP John McDonnell to celebrate volunteers week at the end of June.
The MP pitched in to supply a thirsty crowd and charm the customers – and was described as a ‘natural’ by the Friends, who have invited him to do another shift.
The Friends charity has been in existence since 1955 (pre-dating the current hospital) and raises funds for patient equipment through sales in their shops.
Currently 55 volunteers give up over 4,000 hours of their time each year.
