Back Heathrow urges third run­way de­ci­sion

Ex­pan­sion sup­port­ers make views known to PM

SUP­PORT­ERS of Heathrow ex­pan­sion are writ­ing to the Prime Min­is­ter urg­ing him to push ahead with a new run­way in west Lon­don.

Cam­paign group Back Heathrow is ask­ing its sup­port­ers to send mes­sages to David Cameron to pres­sure the govern­ment into ac­cept­ing the Davies Com­mis­sion’s rec­om­men­da­tion that a third run­way should be built at Heathrow.

The group claims there is a dan­ger a ‘vo­cal mi­nor­ity’ of an­tiHeathrow pro­test­ers could de­feat what they say is a ma­jor­ity view in west Lon­don and the Thames Val­ley in favour of Heathrow ex­pan­sion.

Back Heathrow’s cam­paign co-or­di­na­tor Rob Gray said: “We are hop­ing thou­sands of our sup­port­ers will make their views known to the prime min­is­ter.

“The ma­jor­ity of res­i­dents liv­ing near Heathrow back ex­pan­sion at their lo­cal air­port.

“They do not shout, scream or chain them­selves to fences, but they hold strong views and have ev­ery right to be heard.

“I urge ev­ery­one who sup­ports a big­ger and bet­ter Heathrow and the enor­mous com­mu­nity ben­e­fits that it would pro­vide to speak up now.”
