High achievements at Brunel
HATS off to these Brunel University graduates who were among hundreds to pick up their degrees at the Uxbridge campus last week.
BRUNEL University hosted four days of graduation ceremonies in Uxbridge last week. Families and friends of students, came together at the Indoor Athletics Centre on campus to see them receive their well-deserved degree certificates.
Hillingdon’s deputy mayor, Cllr John Hensley, was awarded an Honorary Fellowship by Brunel in recognition of his ‘significant contribution’ to the University.
And human rights campaigner Shami Chakrabarti CBE was awarded the Doctorate of Letters.
She said: “I am from northwest London so it was fantastic to return to this side of the capital. I truly find this a statement of solidarity by the university. Human rights are under attack every day and it’s great to stand firm together.”
Students collected their bachelors, masters, postgraduate diplomas and doctorates over the course of the week.
Professor Julia Buckingham, Vice- Chancellor of Brunel, said: “The best degree ceremonies are a careful balance of tradition, ceremony and celebration; events that will create lifelong memories for those graduating and for their families and friends.”
