Roads to close for pipe works
Disruption expected for seven weeks
HAREFIELD road users could face up to seven weeks of disruption with road closures and diversions due to water works.
Affinity Water is replacing old cast iron pipes, which are aged around 75 years old, with new plastic pipes to provide a more reliable supply of drinking water and reduce the disruption caused to the community when a water main bursts.
The old type of water pipes are often responsible for burst water mains in the area, as soil corrodes the material over time.
Jackets Lane, White Hill, Shrubs Lane and Northwood Road could be affected from and White Hill will require road closures, with diversions in place while we carry out the work.”
The water company is investing £75,000 into the Harefield maintenance, as part of £100million to be spent between 2010 and 2015 on improving the water mains in the region.
The spokesperson added: “To minimise inconvenience caused, the road closures will be done in sections with the diversion routes agreed with Hillingdon Highways.
“We expect that the project will be complete by early September and we would like to thank our customers for their patience while we carry out these works.”
The anticipated finish date of the work is planned to be September 2.
