‘Ice cool’ shootout YOUTH FOOTBALL

Harefield Gazette - - SPORT -

WEST Drayton Youth U8s were celebrating after winning their first trophy at the Hanworth Sports Summer Tournament.

Georgie Mee got the only goal of a tense final with Molesey Juniors to give the youngsters their first piece of silverware as a club.

They only lost once as they navigated the group stage with ease and needed penalties to beat Hillingdon in the semis as Mee, Grace Grantham and goalkeeper Teghbir Bains starred in the shootout.

Manager Steve Campin said: “I was so proud of the team today. I was so nervous watching the penalty shootout, but the kids were ice cool. I am over the moon at being able to put our first trophy into the club’s trophy cabinet.”

The rest of the team was made up of Soroush Hafiz, Harkeerat Singh, Molly Campin, Reilly Barrett and George Ireland.
