Helping to clean-up the community? We’re loving it

Harefield Gazette - - NEWS -

A LITTER-picking team made up of McDonald’s workers and Hillingdon Council staff have spruced up two Uxbridge parks.

The 25-strong crew filled over 20 bags of litter from Fassnidge Park and Rockingham recreation ground as part of the Mayor of London’s Capital Clean-up campaign.

McDonald’s restaurants at Uxbridge High Street, The Chimes, New Denham, and Beaconsfield, leant staff to the clean-up, wearing high visibility jackets and armed with litter pickers.

Cliff Webb, local McDonald’s franchisee, said: “When local businesses like mine and community members work together we are able to achieve so much more and this event is a perfect example of this.”

The burger chain has a four year partnership with the Mayor of London and MP for Uxbridge & South Ruislip, Boris Johnson’s Capital Clean-up programme.

McDonald’s say staff from their restaurants patrol the streets three times a day to collect litter that has been discarded, regardless of origin.
