Cooking up a treat at live food demonstration
SHOPPERS at Tesco Extra in Hayes were treated to a live cookery demonstration by a TV chef.
Manju Malhi, who has appeared on ITV’s Saturday Cooks, This Morning, Sky One’s Taste and BBC1’s Saturday Kitchen, was at the store at Bulls Bridge Industrial Estate to cook her trademark ‘Brit-Indi’ dishes.
The chef, who made her name by winning the BBC’s Food and Drink competition in 1999, used ingredients picked up from the aisles of the supermarket to create the tasty meals, watched by an eager crowd.
Manju said: “I had such an enjoyable day cooking live for the customers at the Tesco Extra store in Hayes. The customers were really inspired by the different spices and ingredients used in the dishes I created.
“I hope they found the day informative and will try the recipes at home.”
Store manager, Muhammad Rahman, added: “The event was a real success and generated lots of positive feedback.
“The cookery demonstrations created a fantastic atmosphere and we hope our customers learnt lots of new tips.” The store has launched a Golden Ticket competition, giving customers the chance to win £300 in store each week for four weeks. At the end of August there will also be a Local Hero Competition where the public can nominate a local hero to win a donation to their chosen charity. *Additional charges for Trips and tuck shop ** 2, 3, 4 year old funded sessions available from September - subject to criteria
