Family jewellers hit by smash and grab thieves
A JEWELLERS in Hayes has been the victim of a smash-and-grab style robbery.
Police were called at around 6.15pm on Friday, July 31, to reports of a robbery at Dharam Jewellers, on Coldharbour Lane.
An eyewitness, who was driving down the road at the time, said: “We drove through the town one way then came back and it must have just happened.
“People were chasing someone on the other side of the road and a smoke cloak had gone off in the shop and it looked like there was a big hold in the window.”
Dharam Jewellers is a family-run business which specialises in diamond, platinum, white gold and 24ct and 22ct jewellery.
Police officers attended but the suspects had fled the scene.
A Metropolitan Police spokesperson, said: “At this early stage officers believe that two men made their way to the location in a vehicle. One of the men smashed the shop window and stole a number of items on display.”
No arrests have been made and enquires continue.
The shop was still closed for business on Monday, August 3.
