Tube workers set to strike

Harefield Gazette - - NEWS -

TUBE workers were expected to strike from 9.30pm today (Wednesday) until 9pm on Thursday, August 6.

Workers closed the Tube network completely in the first industrial action, on July 8, and now plan the same disruption during a fresh 24-hour walkout.

London Underground (LU) made a revised offer which was discussed by union leaders on Monday (August 3).

But an ASLEF union statement said: “The overwhelming view of our members is that this offer is not acceptable.

“The main concern is the complete lack of firm commitments on work/ life balance for train drivers.

“Our members want guarantees on the number of weekend rest days they will have under both the interim and long term arrangements for night tube.”

The news came on the same day First Great Western staff announced they would be striking over August bank holiday weekend.
