EAST­COTE stayed top by a point from Shep­herds Bush on Satur­day – de­spite be­ing held to a draw at mid-ta­ble Enfield.

East­cote elected to field and looked to cash in on an early wicket from Je­han Jef­ferie (1-19), which left the hosts 0-1 af­ter two overs but pa­tient bat­ting took Enfield to 109-1 be­fore quick wick­ets saw the to­tal change to 123-4. Wick­ets kept tum­bling and the hosts were bowled out for 191 off 51.5 overs, with James Cor­bett the pick of the bowlers, tak­ing 5-78 from 17.5 overs.

In re­ply, East­cote started well be­fore los­ing Greg Fury lbw (14). Club cap­tain Aman Lo­tay pushed the score to 83 be­fore be­ing caught for 34. He was fol­lowed by Chris James (36), and Ravi Wi­jer­atne (11) for 103-4. James Rosewarne (23) and Sha­hen Wi­jer­atne (34) kept things tick­ing over, but East­cote ended on 176-8, one run short of the win­ning draw.

In the same di­vi­sion, Uxbridge are not out of the woods af­ter los­ing by two wick­ets to bot­tom club Bren­tham.
