One run short of points EASTCOTE CC
EASTCOTE stayed top by a point from Shepherds Bush on Saturday – despite being held to a draw at mid-table Enfield.
Eastcote elected to field and looked to cash in on an early wicket from Jehan Jefferie (1-19), which left the hosts 0-1 after two overs but patient batting took Enfield to 109-1 before quick wickets saw the total change to 123-4. Wickets kept tumbling and the hosts were bowled out for 191 off 51.5 overs, with James Corbett the pick of the bowlers, taking 5-78 from 17.5 overs.
In reply, Eastcote started well before losing Greg Fury lbw (14). Club captain Aman Lotay pushed the score to 83 before being caught for 34. He was followed by Chris James (36), and Ravi Wijeratne (11) for 103-4. James Rosewarne (23) and Shahen Wijeratne (34) kept things ticking over, but Eastcote ended on 176-8, one run short of the winning draw.
In the same division, Uxbridge are not out of the woods after losing by two wickets to bottom club Brentham.
