Ickenham on course CRICKET
ICKENHAM CC are eyeing an instant return to the Middlesex County League after Vrushant Patel’s seven-wicket haul helped them to a third successive win.
Winning the toss and bowling on a bowler friendly wicket, Ickenham started slowly as Birkbeck ploughed on to 100-3. However, the spin from Patel (7-58) and overseas player Ben Wall (1-34) that turned the match Ickenham’s way. The pair blew away the middle order and Birkbeck eventually folded for 161 off 41 overs.
That total was very defendable, but Dan Pope (78) played his shots from the off and took Ickenham to the brink of victory. He was well supported by captain Ross Berti (28), but it was Wall who guided the team home with an unbeaten 25.
In the Thames Valley League, Hayes lost by five wickets to Boyne Hill in Division 2a despite an 84 from Michael Green, while in Division 4a, James Ingram’s 144 helped Ruislip hammer Datchet seconds by 195 runs, while an unbeaten 124 from Steve Duce and figures of 8-17 from Azan Hyatt saw Hillingon Manor beat Chalfont St Peter by 18 runs. Harefield also drew with Henley in Divsion One of the Home Counties Premier.
