Singer Mari includes tribute to Cilla

Harefield Gazette - - NEWS -

SINGER Mari Wilson will be performing her version of classic hits by Dusty Springfield, Petula Clark and Cilla Black, at Ready, Steady, Girls.

The evening of nostalgia takes place at Uxbridge Sports Club, Gatting Way, on Friday, September 11.

Ian Sephton, from Fretsore Records, said: “With the sad news of Cilla Black’s death, I have decided that I will donate my profits to The Stroke Association in memory of Cilla.

“The aim is to support this organisation and to raise awareness of how vital it is to act F.A.S.T. (Face-Arm-SpeechTime).

“One of my friends suffered a stroke and due to swift action by his wife recognising something was wrong, she got him to hospital immediately and he made a full recovery.

“Sadly, in Cilla’s case, help did not arrive soon enough when she had her accident.

“Last year, I shaved my head, raising £250 for Macmillan Cancer Support, in memory of my mum.

“So this is not the first charitable act for me.”

Mari Wilson’s own big UK Top 10 single, Just What I Always Wanted, was released in 1982 and she is currently recording a CD of well-known songs.

Tickets to the event, starting at 8pm, cost £10 for members, £12.50 for general admission in advance from www. seetick and £15 on the door.
